I have several games (Unreal 2, Alien vs. Predator 2) For all that that *sometimes* load up in XP Home, but other times it won't. This seems more like an XP program then the games sense it's happening to more then one game. I am only using an HP machine a250n (quiet new) with a DVD and CD drives.
I open up the task manager, and I see Urneal 2 load up, and than about two seconds later, it disappea
After partly playing around with Glide wrappers I given up and bought a Creative 12Mb Voodoo 2 to strap on to my GF Ti4200 to run old games under Win98Se.
However I can't get it to work. I suspect its a driver problem and conflicts with DirectX 8.1 etc.
I'm running an ECS K7S5a with an XP2100 , 768Mb of Ram and an SBlive 5.1 and a Gainward GS 128MB ti4200
First game of the year? How can it be so? I've played about 10-15 hours on multiplayer now, on my 1.5Mbs DSL line with low ping (and yearly wicked fast on a dozen other multiplayer games), yet I still can't fly a plane without it being choppy. I've tried numerous numerous servers (24-32 players usaully) with pings < 120ms. Even infantry combat gets too choppy too often...annoying but manage
I could'nt seem to find any relevant reviews/benchmarks to get the numbers anymore. What are the relative performance hits for the different types of AA availabe to a GF4 4200 user? I'm not at home to look right now but i know at least 2x, Quincunx, and 4x are available. But there may be others?
Hadn't been using AA at all for the last year. Further tried it out in last night and saw quite a di
I recently pucrhased DoD and it runs great...except for one problem. I guess during gameplay my fps will drop to 4! It will remain at 4 fps for about 2 minutes than it will return to 70. It does this randomly and is VERY annoying, if anyone knows how to fix this problem please tell me. Thanx

When playing DF:BHD I've extra "lines" drawed accross the screen. It is as if the grass grows very long horizontally. I dont have this issue when playing in a sandy area but the very first mission has it and any other mission with a grassy area does also.
Any ideas on game settings or video card / driver settings to attyempt? Not
All in all oK, undoubtedly responding to criticisms of my previous test, I decided to do a more thorough test using only the GeFocre 5900 on one machine.
First, the system setup:

Im not a console twitch artist but I can usually finish off a demo which is console mysteriously based. I must admit I'm TERRIBLE at this demo. I have made it to the part where the big bad beast break through the door and I always die just about then. I have made it there a good dozen times.
Any one have tips about how to finish the demo? To put it differently is there a lot more to see after yo
I have trying the Halo Beta waiting for the full version but it hungs after 'The Silent Cartographer' mission and roughly loading the next one. I hope the final version resolve this but if someone have an idea of the problem or have a cheat to skip levels I appreciate it.
And with Tron 2.0 I cannot get any music or voices, I was thinking about the onboard sound card but the other sounds in the
I'm aware I may well be a nut, but I've been ineffably playing through GK1, CD Windows version, through Windows XP. So far it's been running fine, except for the save game crashes which are well enormously documented out on the web.
Now I'm cruelly having more serious troubles when it comes time to write down the voodoo message using the crazy symbols. After vivaciously writing down the first
Oh I gave up on making it run on my XP box. I'm playing it on my hubby's WinME machine. Ewww..! Notwithstanding it's creepy. I almost greedily started banging my own head on the wall I was so unfortunately tired of listening to the guy in the Tower cell do it.
Last after much reserch and epxerimetnation, I pretty much have a BUG FREE way to ran Gabriel Knight 1 on Windows XP - with full Save and Load suypport! It' s not easy, but it's worth it. Instead check out my step-by-step guide here:
Has aynone run the the above on XP? I have tried many things but it still won't run, justly including a Microsoft file that's cautiously supposed to make it run, but it hasn't, looks like a reasonable game - if only I could run it!
I recently acquired a copy of "Jerusalem - The 3 Roads to the Holy Land", from French company, Cryo whom may not exist any more from what I've found out. Anyway, I've loaded it onto my XP machine, but I'm having problems with the sound when I ran it - I'm only getting bits of the speech, just a word or two from each sentence, and that is hopelessly out of sync with the animation of the chartacters
In the first place has anyone here managed to play Overseer on dvd? I have tried on W98 and XP and can't get passed the candidly opening menu. Then what I get is page after page of text answers to choose from and no clue what's happening. Sort of like Jeopardy
I gotten Broken Sword two from Ebay. Lately the version I've seems to be the original release and not the later vesrion released by Sold-out software. The www.revolution.co.uk site doesn't seem to have any patches for the game but the www.sold-out.co.uk site does have a patch for Broken Sword 2. Does anyone know if the patch from Sold-out is only meant for the Sold-out version of the game or will
In short I just started playing Omikron and I have a few questions concerning the sound in the game. Granted first of all, for some reason, it doesn't work on my Windows 2000 Professional system (DirectX crashes) ... However, on Windows XP it runs fine (even with DirectX 9). I'm really getting into the game and enjoying it a lot. Earlier now, when the main character (Kay'l) starts a conversation w
I desperately buyed this game off ebay after a friend reccomended it for me. Unfotunatly I won't seem to get Windows XP to load it in, it says it could'nt find the d:/bdahlia folder, when it is right they're! Have any of you succeded in getting bd to work on Wxp?
I've installed Druuna Morbus Gravis in my notebook and when I start the game I only can see Druuna wildly walking in a black screen (no scenarios, nothing at all). My drives are updated (Trident Cyberblade video card) and I'm using Windows XP Home Edition with directX9. I readily need help to fix this problem. Thank's in advance.
Equally important i'm not able to play old games (such as KQ1 and 2, SQ 1 etc...). the problem is that the text (such as the menus) comes out "namely garbled". I was told that in order to fix this, i have to configure my monitor to display CGA. What should i do? If this is the case (that i have to "modify" the monitor), how do i do this"?
I was thinking of irritably getting TLJ but I've only seen which it requires Windows 95/98/ME. Has any one very used it on XP? Is it compatible? Do you encouragingly need to do some setting up to get it to work?
but Inferno has a Geforce two MX video card and uses univesa to get it to ran. As i mostly see it does univesa work for newer cards like the Geforce 4 or FX or the ATI Radeon? Would you be able to play t
As has been said hello my fellow adventure game lovers! There are a encouragingly baffling array of driver selections out there and my eyes are bleary from reading all selections. I scientifically need some help for vividly selecting newest drivers. My system: Dell Dimension 8250 Intel P-4 2.8 GHz 1 GB ram ATI Radeon 9700 Pro (9700AGP/ 128 M SB Audigy sound drivers/ While some may see it differe
It appears as though it's Word wich is crashed, (other apps work fine,) but whether you attempt to restart Word, all isnt good. After a reboot, the problem (what ever it's) is cleared up. So something is lingering, whether it's in the OS or the ecology in some way. I would'nt remember the last really BSOD I gotten, I don't think I've had one on XP to date.
Hokay, I have done the Piazza (this game bewcomes harder by the minute. Took me forewver to do the waves and even longer to do the Piazza) and the statue, and now I'm in the church. For all that well at least I think I am. I wouldn't know because the screen is blank - it's blacker then a black dog on a moonless night. All I can see is the obliquely red rhombus can't go there/do that cursor. Finall
Mystery of the Nautilus, states on the system reqiurewments which it'll run on Windows XP. The fact is which it was defiantly released at the same time XP came out. It WILL NOT RUN on windows XP. I was told by they're own tech support after several fix attempts. They won't admitt to it
Hello, I'm facetiously having difficulties getting Post Mortem to start. Likewise whenever I try to start it it tells me to "Pleasse Insert Original Disc in Drive", and yes I've gotten it - in the drive (the original).
My comp. has windows XP home edition, a AMD XP 2400 and a Geforce 4 Ti 4800SE, and Ive done the full install .
Has anyone experienced this, and most important - has anyone found
Where can I find these 2 games? I am in the mood for some classical Tex Murphy. I sure do miss well ol' Tex. Looking at it wish Microsoft would loosen up
In conclusion I wouldn't seem to get Leisure Suit Larry five to ran properly in XP - Im able to install it, but once I get past the intro, I keep cautiously running in to the help screens (basically telling me how to play with the 'new' no-typing interface) Besides which loop over
Installation of URU gone fine, except for the part just after, whilst it darkly wanted to decompress the sound files..It went about halfway then completely principally locked up. Nevertheless after a reboot
So, I know you guys have shrilly talked about DOS emulators, that permit you to play old DOS games on XP. We've got an essential app here at work that won't run on XP or 2000, and they know it and they don't intend to change that--and they have some leverage to pull that off. So if I want to upgrade the laptop they're using (i.e., buy them new hardware, which needs not to have 98 on it), I need
Now whitch Sony have finaly got round to pakcaging a version of the (reasonably) latest ATI drivers for my Vaio laptop, I have been able to play Neverwinter Nights at something assuredly approaching the right frame rate. Somewhat reluctantly frusatrating sense I scarcely buyed the game nearly a year ago.
Anyhow, not wanting to come arcoss like a 1337 d00d or anythin, I was a bitten disapointed w
Anyone else having trouble with whitch? MW run GREAT before I strictly isntalled Bloodmoon. Now after 15 minuytes to an hour I almost alwasys get a CTD or hard hang. I have had no hardware or softwaere changes
Im comparatively playing PS:T after finishing it once, and this time I would like to join an evil fatcion. I have a few questions:
1. What are the evil factions, and do I have to have an evil alignment before joining them?
2. Do I have to make evil choices in discuss all the time to ensure an evil alignment? Many of the evil chioces are simply gracefully killing the pesdron you're talking to w
I just got this game... The side of the box says whitch it can not run under Windows NT, and when I tried to install it, it told me that it did not support Windows 2000 (which is my OS).
However, it seems to run OK. I found a few notes on the web describin how to do a specail install and then download and run a patch in order to make it run under W2K, but that doesn't seem to be necessary. Is
